Artist Anila Quayyum Agha knows all too well the power of mixed media and making a statement. For one of the more direct approaches taken to one of the famed art works, intricate carvings were made into a gigantic wood cube that measures six and a half feet on all sides. Titled ‘Intersections,’ this piece is one that really embodies the pattern and beauty found in Islamic spaces. To some it’s religious, to others this cube is a great work of art and a wonderful play on light and shadow.
‘Intersections’ not only displays in a room as a massive sculpture, but when illuminated, the shadows cast are a whopping 35′ by 32′. It’s not everyday that laser cut wood makes such an impact, but on a more meaningful level of social interactions and experiences mixed with cultural upbringings. A spectacular piece that speaks volumes for itself!
