Having house guests isn’t always the highlight of having out-of-towners come to stay, but if you’ve got a special little spot for them it can be great. For this New York family, adding a little guest studio to their Lake George property made the most sense to accommodate those that are just visiting.
Architect Jeffrey S. Poss was the creative behind the making of this polygonal shaped shelter, which provides a unique shape on the exterior and functional volumes on the interior. The interior includes stairs and some separation of space, as well as a slightly secluded service area on the lower level. Cedar wood brings in the natural element in this beautifully natural landscape, and translates through to the interior. Light is filtered in easily and freely, with large sliding doors and simple materials.
