Cabins in the woods don’t always have to follow the protocol of vacation home away from home. For one couple in Sweden, their cabin is a most minimalist space. Just a dark elevated box in the midst of nature’s landscape, the ‘Ermitage’ cabin is a simple room with an attached sauna. French design company Septembre Architecture designed this space with the surroundings solely in mind.
From the exterior this cabin is nothing to gawk at, and the interior isn’t much different. The premise of this design was to give the attention all to the untouched landscape of Trossö, Sweden. This plot of land has no roads, so the entire space and materials had to be delivered and built via boat. The interior is completely bare with the exception of a large bed and an under bed mobile storage ‘drawer.’ A sliding door gives the room the ability to open up and provide a little extra square footage if enjoying the outside nature from indoors.
