It’s no secret that Jonathan Segal FAIA designs some of our favorite residential spaces. It could be due to the fact that we are San Diego natives, or it could be the likelihood that the simple structures are warm and inviting yet programmed with poise and form following functionality. The ‘Cresta‘ home is a prime example of such, with simple lines, plenty of transparency and a setting that’s magical.
Floor to ceiling glazing and concrete structural elements all provide a modern edge, while an interior courtyard-slash-patio really connects to nature in a roundabout way. The design of the interior is minimalistic and strangely soothing, with much of the focus on the coastline views. Cantilevered upstairs areas and interesting structural elements all tie in together to create a narrow beach home and turn it into a modern work of livable art.
