We think that this home by Ana Girod just exemplifies Spain, in a nutshell. With modernist works and brilliant cutting edge designs abound in the city, and rustic stone works of their cultural history in the country– this home is a wonderfully pleasing blend of both. Ana Girod created this beautiful space that mixes the two design styles in such a way that’s got us swooning.
The exterior is an old and thick, stone walls that were practically on the verge of ruins prior to this hefty renovation. The decision was made to only tear out the pieces that weren’t reusable. With the structure being pretty much in tact, there are a whole lot of wood beams, timber ceilings and earthy feeling elements to the interior architecture. The floors are the perfect juxtaposition to this old world space, polished concrete being the main finish, and contemporary fixtures, appliances and finishes all help the old world space meld together.
A melting pot of sorts, this home is a wonderfully light and airy space with a sense of calm and peacefulness with a rustic exuberance all tied into a perfect home package.
