New construction homes are leaning more and more toward the way of green thinking and sustainable design, and TRG Architects did a great job with one of the contemporary gems in San Mateo, California– so much so that this home won the Green Building Award.
The space was built originally with wheelchair access in mind. So there are spacious halls, doorways and plenty of room for a chair radius within. But the design didn’t stop with accessibility. Green initiatives were taken throughout the entire process, including denim insulation, solar technology, gray water components for watering the lawn and other water non-essentials. The layout of the home itself promotes cross ventilation for natural cooling processes as well as a plethora of natural light for an inviting and less costly space overall.
