Converting an old dilapidated home into a dream space is a project in itself, so imagine trying to convert something that was once a dry cleaners into a residence for a growing family. That’s what Carles Enrich embarked upon. Located in Gracia, Barcelona is this nice sized, 1500 square foot space that has some obvious visual appeal.
Bricks, wood beams, metal and natural stone were all a part of the program which included a lower floor excavation so that a metal supported loft could be included in the interior. With the added loft, no walls are enclosing the space, but rather an open palette of visual privacy is created with dense lines and material changes. The only fully enclosed space happens to be the bathroom, otherwise, the space is an entirely open concept.
