America Made From 1,000's of Burning Matches For Art Installation

French artist Claire Fontaine has created some unusual art pieces throughout her time as an artist. With her uncanny sight and talent, Fontaine has been traveling with a few art pieces to display at numerous gallery installations and exciting areas of the globe.

Her “America (Burnt/Unburnt) work has been showcased in areas like Portland, where she perfectly executed the pre-burn portion of set up and the burn portion looks to have been successful. Green-tipped matches set the precedence for a giant map of the good ‘old U. S. of A. to later be lit on fire and a simple blaze to take all of the beautiful greenery out of each and every part of the country.

It just so happens that during a similar install in San Francisco, the ‘Queens Nails’ art studio was left with a hefty bill when everything went up into flames– literally. Learn about the match-lighting gone awry, here.
