Outside In Family Home Opens Up to the Elements in Japan

Family homes in Japan have some of the most creative builds that we’ve seen– and this Takeshi Hosaka residence in Fijiyoshida Yamanashi, Japan is no exception. For a family of 5, this residence appears on the exterior to be less than just a home, but more than an industrial building.

The home was planned with nature and the climate in mind for the area. The building is a series of spaces that gradually open up to the exterior as well as unifying the other members of the home. The wooded area that the home sits on extends through the home with a grouping of Eames molded plastic chairs which really makes the rest of the minimalist space pop.
