Hank Butitta is an Architecture grad from The University of Minnesota who bought a $3,000 Craigslist bus and converted it into a 225 square foot home ready for traveling the country. With only 15 weeks to complete the bus as a Master’s thesis project as his final exam– this school bus has now become a beautifully small living wonder.
A month long experience has since been planned with Hank, his brother and friend to further the thesis research he began with. Hank is documenting the journey on his modular bus that is clearly making waves and expanding the discussion of the tiny house movement.
The bus is divided up into four zones. Bathroom, bedroom, seating, and kitchen; all with life’s basic necessities and each area has something uniquely modular about it. Whether beds unfold to create more sleeping space, tables come up from under a cushion– there are plenty of unique scenarios happening in this space. Reclaimed gym flooring covers the base, while the rest of the linear areas are home to plywood facades. LED strip lighting aides in the interior illumination at night, and translucent panels are able to shade the sun during daytime hours.
