Historic buildings can have some great bones, architecture and especially stories behind them. Take this original World War II airbase, for example. Used for the USA’s Air Force during bombings of WWII, this home is now aptly named “Allies Farm.” Located in Essex, the home has been transformed into a barn style contemporary gem that’s got plenty of character and design sense.
Timber Design was commissioned for this project and in the process restored some of the beautiful detailing and accentuated areas such as skylights, exterior lines, and of course framed out the windows and open doorways. The walls are simple, floors made of stone and the rustic appeal is never ending in this amazing space.
