Nestled in the mountains of Tucson’s Sonoran Desert is this modernist retreat that is full of Southwest appeal. While a majority of the land looks to be barren, the radiant landscaping and architectural additions really make the desert look and feel like home. This expansive one story space was crafted primarily of Rammed Earth, with concrete, glass and wood additions.
This home’s entire plan revolves around embracing the natural surrounding landscape, and more than just the architecture and house plans are involved in this process. Dust Architects took special care to think about adjacent lands, air, sun and the amazing views when planning the site and direction of the home– as well as the spot where the least amount of natural land interference would take place. An amazing rooftop terrace allows for breathtaking views of the desert sunsets and wildlife watching.
