Where there’s a will, there’s a way. And when it came to a student housing project and determining how to best protect the building and its inhabitants from the sun and elements. Architect Stéphane Malka created a solution that already takes from the waste created in so many shipping processes.
The Ame-Lot has a pallet based skin centered around a concrete structure and of course the design is of the utmost importance. By using up all of these resources, there was plenty of ways to hinge these pallets together and create varying levels of street side privacy. With an intent to create something new for these short(er) term residents without creating production byproducts and coming up with an entirely new item– Malka just utilized what was readily available for covering the Ame-Lot.
