Much of the construction systems for this Feldman Architecture built home surrounded Green building principles– such as the rammed earth walls, rainwater irrigation planning and more. Located in Carmel, California, the Caterpillar House is a gorgeous contemporary visual within the otherwise untouched landscape.
Being the first LEED Platinum custom home of the California Central Coast, this residence also incorporated all of the client’s requirements as well. Not sacrificing between wants and requirements of the LEED qualifications left this home with lots of glazed partitions that open up the interior to the large entertaining patio. With the California weather permitting much of the year to entertain outdoors, it was imperative that there be a way to integrate nature with the home. The interior is very neutral, with mostly natural finishes to complement the home that is already so well connected with the surrounding earth.
