Andersson-Wise Architects designed the Cabin on Flathead Lake for a quiet retreat above the water’s edge. This Montana residence is a small one, that sits partly on the “Matterhorn” cliff among the monstrous trees and natural vegetation.
The interior and exterior walls happen to be clad in a beautiful rich wood, with much of the design based off of the Austin based firm’s “Natural Houses” approach to architecture. It’s a mere 600 square feet, which is a good size to many urban dwellers. As a peaceful retreat it is the perfect guest-sized cabin. Much of the architecture was planned around embracing the natural elements of the Montana weather, which means no heating or cooling was involved.
