Museum design of today isn’t just about the information within as it once was, but now the museum‘s undertake the responsibility and desire to provide an experience that evokes more of a feeling and not just a blown up text book version of information.

Located on the small island of Texel, The Netherlands, Mecanoo Architects created a beachcombers and maritime museum out of shipwrecked driftwoods and so much more. The built space is distinguished by the multiple gabled roofs and vertical wood cladding. The light can reach the interior through the slatted facade, and there will be multiple historical showings as well as space to take a break with a cafe and even a few offices underground.
