Titled “Edgeland” just along the bank of the Colorado River, is a gorgeous house that at some angles looks to be one unified architectural piece. Designed by Bercy Chen Studio, this home is a gorgeous reinterpretation of the “pit homes” of the past.
With a section of the home underground just a bit, the rest of the home features sharp angles and a glazed facade. The pit concept draws heating and cooling elements from the earth’s mass– helping to keep the overall temperatures at an even keel throughout the year. The home is divvied up into two pavilions: living and sleeping. To get to the other the residents must cross over the exterior courtyard area which is just a few small steps to the other part of the home. An interesting concept for a simply unique home.
