Artist Michael McGillis has been known for his nature installations with various idealogical meanings behind them. In 2006, he put together Wake, a huge wooden pathway. Franconia Sculpture Park holds this amazing sculptural wonder.
The simple, yet beautiful path is a 95 foot long trek located in Shafer, Minnesota, and though rows upon rows of logs looks normal for the Midwest state– it’s the interior that leaves people speechless. The logs all stack into a trenched piece of land, only revealing a plain exterior. The trench between the split logs reveals neon purple painted trunks with a message that as a race, we are disrupting nature.
