The Kofunaki House by ALTS Design Office was constructed in Shiga, Japan with the premise surrounding nature and the combination of existence with the built world. Natural light and materials found outdoors were important parts of getting this job done, and the outcome is outstanding.
Many outdoor elements were brought into the interior of the Japanese residence, with plenty of the plants and trees actually being planted within the home. Minimal interior partitions were created with actual drywall, but the other interior separations that needed to be made were discreetly made flexible with some drapery like application. Light flooring and light walls make up the interior with simple detailing. The best part of it all, is the residents get to feel the seasons from within their home with the simple plants.
