Dutch Design Week 2012 of course aimed to impress as usual, but one piece of art that stood out among the other installations happened to be an outdoor, Eindhoven city immersed hot air balloon by Lucas Maassen. Titled “Skyline Bump – baked architecture” this piece is a glowing piece of joy within the dull city architecture.
As a part of the “Unexpected Interactions” exhibit, Maassen set out to create a bold visual feature depicting something between a peeking sun and a cheerful living dome within the dutch city. We would say that he succeeded, especially by giving the Dutch people an extra 30 minutes of light each evening with the 22meter in diameter balloon.
