
Libraries are something that there certainly aren’t enough of these days, but with modern technologies– there are plenty of ways to repurpose library’s as well as integrating technology soundly. But at the University of Aberdeen’s New Library, there are plenty of paper intensive books and pieces to keep the standard library afloat.
There are plenty of organically shaped spaces that Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects carved out for all of the books and periodicals here, with more than 250,000 books and manuscripts. This 15,500 square meter facility accommodates 14,000 students with 1,200 reading spaces, archives, historical collections and a room for rare books.
