
There’s no doubt that in this day and age, the traditional library and its core qualities is on its way out. Instead of determining that libraries should be demolished, 1100 Architects decided that a simple re-vamping may be what the public spaces may need to become adept to the children of today’s needs.
Jamaica, Queens in New York is home to the “Children’s Library Discovery Center” where the interior was carefully planned for the integration of technology and new, innovative ways of learning for children– other than using ‘bookmarkers’ and looking up ISBN numbers. There are new reading nooks, an area for toddlers, colorful computer stations and centrally located group seating in the freshly renovated and re-built space.
