The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina is still plaguing many of the poverty stricken areas of New Orleans, Louisiana. While there may not be enough initiatives that are doing their own part to help with the dilapidated structures and abandoned homes, Buildingstudio is working on an exciting prefab home called the “Alligator.”
This home sits just under 900 square feet with two bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms, and the 13ft wide home was built with the intent to fit a vast majority of the long and narrow lots that are prominent within the inner city. Even though this small home is constructed on a budget– the materials cost is low enough to still allow for engineered hardwood and ceramic tile flooring. There’s even still the down South element of the ‘stoop’ to maintain the community based interaction. Beautiful!
