The historical building that was once (and still) known as the Carson Pirie Scott department store has now found a new calling as a Target store in Chicago’s Downtown area. What was initially frowned upon by the architecture community may just be winning some points now that all is said and done.
Instead of tagging up the whole facade of the building with bulls-eyes galore, it looks like Target followed Sullivan’s old motto of form follows function. The gorgeous Art Nouveau facade has been refinished and the super store is occupying the first two floors located all within that amazing wrought iron detailing that frames the red accents oh-so-nicely.
