Gastown Vancouver’s Secret Concept Storefront

It’s always a hard thing to design a storefront for a place that sells art or design based goods. Always thinking of the end result and what is going inside of the space– the product tends to win over design since that’s what’s paying the bills.
But Vancouver based Secret Concept Design Store is one place that decided to put design at the forefront of importance in the planning stages. While still remaining simple, there are mainly white and natural wood elements that all work together in both natural and organic forms to unify a multitude of design elements.
All of this is accomplished while keeping true to the integrity of the historic building. Unified and designed by B+H and Chad Melnichuk, there is even one wall that appears to be dripping or melting away to reveal the interior shelves. Along with the multiple design styles used the store itself is 1/2 shop, 1/2 restaurant.
