Chris Larson is a Minnesota native, so this artist knows a thing or two about ice and snow. But it was a visit to Switzerland that got him really thinking about the cold weather when he experienced a numbing ice storm. It was 2008 when his “Deep North” art exhibit came to life in his Minnesota hometown.
Set into the snow, this abandoned and frozen house had Larson working in below zero temperatures to get the interior and exterior carved out just right. During the coldest months Chad sprayed the dilapidated home with thousands of gallons of water and left it all to freeze. The result is chilling, and at some points looks more like a thick coat of white acrylic.
