Probably a far cry from what it once was, this new city hall and municipal services has a breadth of new life thanks to Carlos Arroyo architects and his team. Once, this building was a large plot of Coca-Cola’s bottling factories located in Oostkamp, Belgium.
Now, the city employees can bike to work– through the rich greenery and canals that line the roads and the residential areas close by. Sitting at just under 120,000 square feet, this building boasts a whole slew of conferencing areas, public spaces (including some play areas for children) and a whole lot of scalloped ceilings. Arroyo describes the ceilings as a “luminous landscape of white clouds”.
