Historical buildings can be some of the most challenging to update yet some of the most satisfactory once everything is said and done with. So naturally, some might think it a chore to have re-designed and upheld one of Spain’s oldest churches, the Convent Sant Francesc located in Santpedor, Spain– but David Closes certainly pulled this one off flawlessly.
After being originally built in the early 1700’s, it was safe to say that this hotel needed a facelift. The task was executed with seamlessly; with an interior that is just as awe inspiring as the building’s originally crumbling facade.
Mr. Closes worked hard to hold onto anything that was still salvageable, and anything too far destroyed to restore was replaced with contemporary structuring including glass, steel and stunning lighting, too. Now it’s a cultural space for all to enjoy, and what a perfect description of the culture to mix the old with the new?
