Industrial Design is taking the green route more often than not these days, and designer Debbie Wijskamp found a way to create some beautifully functional art pieces for the home all while being sustainable.
As the designer and creator of her latest collection, “Black Ruby,” Wijskamp has combined a material that’s often found in landfills with beautiful pieces that we might buy in forms of pottery, glass or crystal. Instead, Debbie has upcycled some rubber powder to make an entire series of molded vessels, pots and bowls.
Wijskamp developed a new way of working with this material, and created small ‘pebbles’ as ‘buildingblocks’ for this collection.
Though they almost look like lumps of coal– there’s certainly an interesting air to her work and a sense of purpose to her craft.
