Old Meets New With Refurbished Amsterdam Maritime Museum (14)
Amsterdam is full of original architecture and pieces that embody the culture and rich history of the Netherlands; and while there are plenty of contemporary buildings integrated as well– there is one space that’s a stunning blend of both contemporary and historic architecture.

Located in Kattenburgerplein, Amsterdam, dok architecten set forward to create a gorgeous display of both art and architecture in the refurbished Maritime Museum over the course of 6 years, from 2005 to 2011. The team decided that it was time to adapt this 17th century building to the desires and requirements of modern times and the increase in visitors.┬áThere’s plenty of geometry put on display by the gorgeous roof glazing and the interactive, modern displays.
