ARQtainer is a company that specializes in prefab, shipping container homes. The Liray House in Chile was a project that was built in practically no time, and for only about $75,000 (USD). The designer came up with a solution for users who were looking into earthquake-proof homes– and the multiple containers served a great purpose for these homeowners.
Separated into various parts, the shipping containers are raised off the ground to allow for plumbing. But don’t think that it was just all slapped together as metal tins could be. The Liray House has wood floors that cover the typical corrugated metal look, and there are some interesting finishes in the bathroom as well.
