The Chelsea neighborhood of New York is known for its forward thinking design and architecture along with some of the more classic elements and lines that New York is associated with. But the Dream Downtown Hotel takes away from the rigidness that might be linked to some of the architecture and puts a hole in the perspective.
The modern metallic boutique hotel was renovated by Handel Architects with a maritime theme and its 316 rooms across the 187,000 square feet of space now reflect a more modern sensibility.
There are all kinds of surprises in the design of this space, with a glass enclosed roof-top lounge and terrace as well as an interesting pool. The pool features a glass bottom, dotted with portholes of its own to match the facade of the building. These allow guests in the lobby glimpses through the water to the outside of the hotel.
