Twenty foot shipping containers have been the latest and greatest in sustainable design practices. With much of the world relying on importing and exporting goods, it’s safe to say that there are enough of these containers to go around a few times over.
China has found another great use for these containers, with their Xiang Xiang Xiang Pray House, located in Changzhi, China. There are 21 luxurious, five-star guest rooms constructed out of two sizes of shipping containers.
Take your pick of the luxe 161 or 321 square foot rooms in August of 2012, when you can stay at the Chinese boutique style hotel. Built by a landscape design firm, Tonghe Shanzhi out of Beijing, the containers were constructed and then shipped out to the site to be pieced together in almost a pre-fab fashion.
