It’s almost time again for the Summer Olympic games, and with London hosting this year’s event, you know there’s going to be some show stopping design to lead the way. Take the ‘Velodrome’ for example. This building will seat 6,000 spectators and guests from around the world with rich materials and enticing shapes. Proudly presented by Hopkins Architects, this whopping building is ready for the games to begin.
With the facade details made out of cedar wood and full glazing to allow optimal views on all sides of the building, the Velodrome is also practicing more green techniques in the skylights that are built into the ceiling of the structure for best daylight usage during practice routines. There are other green standards used in this building, including the utilization of rain water for restrooms, and was even value engineered multiple times to cut on costs and materials.
