In the past we have encountered some great feats of innovation when it comes to luxury, resort style living, but the Whangapoua hut is something entirely different.
At first glance this simply building may look like nothing more than a small, contemporary dwelling with incredible views of the ocean. The secret lies in the construction. Designed by Crosson Clarke Carnachan, the Whangapoua hut was built on two thick wooden slabs that serve as a sled like apparatus for transporting the home away from the coastal erosion zone. The home utilizes its 49 square meters of living space perfectly with two stories to enjoy the view through the massive double glass doors from. The home features two bedrrooms, one downstairs with three bunk beds for the little ones, while the grown-ups can retire to the bedroom upstairs.
