Typically when you hear the term floating house, you think of a residence floating atop a body of water. This stunning floating roof house in the small village of Thorpeness, Suffolk, England looks to alter your perception of floating houses.
Designed by Norway based architects Jarmund/Vigsnaes Arkitekter, this residence features an all glass enclosed main floor contrasted by a pitch black upper level. This contrasting effect creates the illusion that the black portion of the home is actually levitating, or floating, off the ground. Such a visually stunning piece of art shouldn’t be kept to one person, so the owners have been kind enough to rent this home out during the holidays.
