Truly one of the most fascinating architectural pieces in the world is the Magdeburg Water Bridge. This navigable aqueduct is located in Germany, and is responsible for connecting the Elbe-Havel Canal to the Mittelland Canal, and crosses over the Elbe River.

Conception for the idea to connect the two waterways dates as far back as 1919, but this wondrous bridge did not open until just under a decade ago in October of 2003. Boasting the record for world’s longest navigable aqueduct, the Magdeburg Water Bridge reaches a total length of 3,012 feet.
